About
The Masterworks Chorale
Founded in Lexington, MA in 1940, The Masterworks Chorale is
both a Boston-area institution and a pioneer in choral music
presentation. Dedicated to presenting the worldâs great choral
literature, Masterworks draws its ensemble of gifted singers,
instrumentalists, and soloists from over 50 cities and towns
throughout New England. During the 2001-2002 season we celebrated
Allen Lannom's 50th year as Director of the Chorale.
In addition to its three-concert series at Sanders Theatre in
Cambridge, the Chorale presents community sings at the holidays
and in the summer, and works with student choruses from area
high schools. The Chorale has performed with the Pittsburgh
Symphony, Boston Ballet, and Boston Concert Opera and has toured
internationally to Mexico and Spain.
We hope you'll join us as an audience member or participant
in one of our many activities!
We are grateful to our many generous donors, including the Massachusetts
Cultural Council, a state agency. The Masterworks Chorale is
a member of the Greater Boston Choral Consortium, a cooperative
association of diverse choral groups in Boston and the surrounding
areas.
